What is the Kickstart Scheme?
The Kickstart Scheme is a Government led and backed £2 billion initiative designed to create job placements for 16 to 24-year-olds.
The scheme provides funding to create new job placements and employers of all sizes can apply for the funding.
The funding covers:
-
100% of the National Minimum Wage for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months
-
Employer National Insurance contributions
-
Employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions
For every placement created and filled, employers will receive £1,500 funding to help towards setup costs and to support the young worker to develop their employability skills.
The scheme has been designed to create new roles that would not have existed otherwise and is not intended to replace existing or planned roles.
Applications for the Kickstart Scheme can be submitted until 31st December 2021.
